
Evan D. George, Esq.
Born in Gainesville, Florida, Evan D. George has five years experience in immigration law. He practiced for three years with Masliah & Soloway, a premier immigration law firm in New York City, NY, where he represented over seventy asylum seekers, from dozens of countries, with claims of a well-founded fear of persecution, including persons targeted for violence on account of their political opinion, race, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, and ethnicity. Mr. George is a member of the Florida Bar, an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and is admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida.
Mr. George is a guest speaker at professional conferences and law schools, including the University of Florida Law School and the Center for Latin American Studies. He conducts “Know Your Rights” presentations for immigrant groups, and provides pro-bono legal services to indigent asylum seekers and battered migrant women. Mr. George was a Co-Chair for the New York City AILA Young Lawyers Division for 2005 and 2006. He is presently a member on the Executive Board for the Eighth Judicial Circuit Bar Association for Alachua County and the Young Lawyer’s Division Executive Board.
In 2004, Mr. George graduated from the University of Florida, where he concurrently completed a J.D. and a Master’s Degree in Latin American Studies. His Master’s Thesis was a comparative analysis of the role of foreign policy in the treatment of Haitian and Cuban asylum seekers during the Cold War and Post Cold War Periods. He served as the Executive Articles Editor for the Florida Journal of International Law and was awarded two Florida Bar Foundation Fellowships, a Center for Governmental Responsibility Fellowship, and a Howard Fellowship.
